French translation of “An Economic History of Imperial Madagascar, 1750–1895. The Rise and Fall of an Island Empire” now available!

We are excited to announce that a French translation of Distinguished James McGill Professor Gwyn Campbell‘s book exploring the economic history of Madagascar is now underway! The translation is being done by Charles-Edouard Bistodeau, an undergraduate student at McGill University and a Research Assistant employed at the IOWC.

This is an open and free-to-access project! The translated versions of the first two chapters and the introduction can be found here. Or through our RESOURCES page, found in the menu at the top of our website. Subsequent chapters will be released as they are completed.
