An Economic History of Imperial Madagascar, 1750–1895. The Rise and Fall of an Island Empire

The following work is a revised French edition of a work first published in English in 2005 under the title An Economic History of Imperial Madagascar, 1750–1895. The Rise and Fall of an Island Empire. My original intention was to find a publisher to issue it in French in order that it could reach the Malagasy and French public. However, after several false starts, the decision was taken to have it translated and publish it on the IOWC website, thus making it available to all. This is the result.

Le présent ouvrage est une édition française révisée d’un livre paru initialement en anglais en 2005 sous le titre An Economic History of Imperial Madagascar, 1750–1895: The Rise and Fall of an Island Empire. Mon intention était de trouver un éditeur afin d’en assurer la publication en français et de le rendre ainsi accessible aux publics malgache et français. Cependant, après plusieurs tentatives infructueuses, il a été décidé d’en réaliser une traduction française et de la publier sur le site Web de l’IOWC, afin de la mettre à disposition du plus grand nombre. En voici le résultat.
