Nicolas Parent is a PhD Candidate in Geography and IOWC affiliate under the supervision of Prof. Jon Unruh. His research is titled “From the ‘imagined homeland’ to pathways for peacebuilding in the DR Congo: An Ethnographic study with Congolese refugees at Gihembe camp, Rwanda.” The primary line of inquiry asks how Congolese imagine their homeland whilst in protracted exile, the needs, claims, and grievances they may have when considering voluntary repatriation, and conversely, how this can support/inform DRC-based peacebuilding from afar. He is a member of the Middle East team working on the Appraising Risk project.
