Maxwell Cummings Distinguished Lectureship:
Abdul Sheriff

Professor Abdul Sheriff was awarded the prestigious McGill Faculty of Arts Maxwell Cummings Distinguished Lectureship (2007). Under the award, he was the guest of the Indian Ocean World Centre (IOWC) at McGill from 8-29 April 2007. He undertake research on dhow cultures, participated in the International Conference on "Sex, Power and Slavery" organised by the IOWC from 19-21 April and gave the Maxwell Cummings Distinguished Lecture on "The Dhow Culture of the Indian Ocean" in Leacock 232 on Wednesday, 25th April.
